Mission
Statement:
Human Rights Club at Balkan Center
for Regional Development
is dedicated to the empowerment of human rights activists and
organizations, and to the education of governmental and non-governmental
agencies and officials, decision makers and vulnerable groups, on
human rights issues and the role of civil society. It emphasizes
a diverse array of cross-disciplinary activities designed to consider,
constructively and critically, the problems and prospects of human
rights in Balkans.
Main goals:
o Collaboration of experts from different professional fields for
research and development of educational programs on human rights
problematics in Bulgaria and Balkan wide.
o Raising public awareness on issues related to civic and social
participation, equal opportunities and human rights, multiculturalism,
tolerance and pluralism by offering independent surveys and analyses,
popularization of ideas and encouragement of public discussions.
o Improving the informational and educational level of the community
with a special care to the youth, women and the marginalised members
by developing civic networks, search and analyses of alternative
approaches to the social, educational and economic policy; innovative
and independent researches; working out recommendations aiming fostering
social participation; realizing research, educational, informational,
social and other programs.
o Advocacy and lobbying for human rights on national and regional
level.
o Helping the Bulgarian and Balkan NGOs to fulfill their civic missions
and apply best international practices by keeping them informed
and organizing specialized trainings.
